One of the first things that I did when I found out that I was having a little girl was get started on the huge list of DIY projects that I wanted to get done! Hello, Pinterest!
One of the first things, and easiest thing to make, were the burp cloths. I have been making burp cloths from the same tutorial that I found on Pinterest for years and giving them as gifts to all of my new mommy friends, including Sherrie! They are so easy, hold up well, and are super cute and easy to customize! You will need a fun print fabric, either cotton or flannel, terry cloth and a sewing machine. I typically use a yard of each, but you can see the tutorial here. I’ve found that with a cutting mat, quilting ruler and rotary cutter it only takes about 5 minutes each to make these. How awesome is that?! I always recommend getting the terry cloth with a coupon to keep your cost for each of these around $1-$1.50 each. Here’s how our little girl’s turned out! I love them!
Another easy project I tackled was our car seat cover. Being that she is a winter baby and it’s the height of cold and flu season, I wanted to keep her as protected as I could from those people who like to lean in close to see or God forbid touch babies! I had made this canopy once before and it’s super easy! You need a yard of your main fabric- I chose white with metallic gold bows and a yard of coordinating fabric, I went with pink. You need to round the corners and sew the right sides together. After that, it’s just a matter of folding it in fours to figure out where to sew the straps and velcro. I added cute matching bows since I wanted it to be super girly! To see the full tutorial I used go here. Between the canopy and the no touching sign I’m planning to make, our little girl should be nice and safe! I think it turned out gorgeous!
There are so many more DIY projects that I created for our baby girl- look for more to come soon!
