Need a quick and easy Valentine’s Day treat that is super yummy? 🙂
How about whipping up these heart shaped Rice Krispie treats! Matt is obsessed with Rice Krispie treats so I thought this would be the perfect treat to try. This is probably the easiest homemade recipe to make and would be great for a Valentine’s Day Party!
All you need is:
Rice Krispies Cereal
Heart shaped cookie cutter (optional)
I followed the recipe right on the box which can also be found online here. The biggest thing you have to remember to do is melt the butter and marshmallows on low heat. First you melt the butter and then you add the marshmallows. Matt likes his with extra marshmallows so I always throw in some extra. 🙂 That is what I love about making these treats – you can tailor it to your taste! You can use any cereal you want and you can add more or less marshmallows if you’d like.
Once the marshmallows are fully melted, remove from the heat and add the Rice Krispies. I found stirring it all together was easiest with a spatula. After letting it cool for a few minutes I poured it on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. With a spatula I spread it to make an even layer. I noted the cookie cutters were optional because you could always use a knife to cut the heart shape as well. Once you cut all the hearts it is time for my favorite part – decorating them! I used a pink shimmer frosting and Valentine’s Day themed sprinkles. I think they turned out pretty cute and my husband said the frosting made it even more delicious!
YUM! Happy Valentine’s Day!
